So, you’ve decided to start building a website and you don’t want to just settle on any simple basic WordPress theme. You want to actually have the ability to customize your website, you want a Squarespace type experience, so what do you do?
Well, you end up searching for a WordPress Page or Theme Builder and you end up reading about Elementor and Divi, but well what do you pick? Well, in this article we’ll dive into the pros and cons and finally settle the argument of Divi vs Elementor.
Divi vs Elementor 2024
Before we dive into the differences and what separates Divi and Elementor, let’s talk a little about each theme builder.
Divi by Elegant themes is the most popular themes on WordPress. It’s also pretty affordable which is why it’s popular. It’s mainly marketed towards beginners who want to build their first website.
Elementor, on the other hand, the no. 1 FREE drag and drop page builder (however it’s worth upgrading to the pro version, more on that later…) In just 3 years, Elementor has more than 2,000,000 active installs and is loved by many and has over 3,000 five-star reviews.
If you go to both of their Websites, you may get the impression that Divi and Elementor are pretty similar however they’re a few big difference that set them apart.
Divi vs Elementor: User Interface
Both Elementor and Divi have a drag and drop interface that you can use to build your pages. However, Divi has a floating bubble interface that’s similar to Gutenberg, while Elementor has a fixed sidebar that you can use to drag and drop your necessary elements.
It’s definitely a personal preference when it comes to the editing, however, thankfully you can always give both a try yourself before deciding to commit to one.
I personally prefer the Elementor User interface, which is more similar to other page builders.
Divi vs Elementor: Theme Builders
While the free Elementor page builder is great for people who want to build a quick landing page. The new theme builder allows you to redesign everything about your theme.
Elementor comes bundled in with 300+ pre-designed templates that you can use and edit so you can design your blog pages to look exactly the way you want it to.
Divi vs Elementor: Modules and Features
The free version of Elementor only has 30 widgets to use on your site, while the pro version gives you access to over 50 widgets that include a countdown timer, Testimonial Carousel Widget etc.
Divi, on the other hand, has only 36 widgets that are shown in the picture below.
Divi vs Elementor: Marketing Tools and Integrations
Marketing tools and Integrations is where Elementor really outshines Divi. Divi is honestly “just” a theme builder, while Elementor has grown to be a complete marketing suite.
With Elementor you don’t have to pay extra for a landing page builder or software for Pop-ups to collect emails, everything is built into!
Elementor gives you everything you need to build successful websites and landing pages that drive traffic, sales and conversions. Everything from a Countdown to a Testimonial Carousel.
Elementor Integrates with almost every single Email Marketing software or Marketing CRM so you can save your subscriber data easier.
Some of their integrations include:
- MailChimp
- Drip
- GetResponse
- ActiveCampaign
- ConvertKit
- Zapier
- HubSpot
- Yoast
- WooCommerce
- Slack
- reCAPTCHA
- ……and so many more!
Divi vs Elementor: Template Library
Both Elementor and Divi come with built-in templates that you can use instead of building things from scratch.
Elementor comes bundled in with 300+ pre-designed templates (40 if you use the free version) that you can use and edit so you can design your blog pages to look exactly the way you want it to.
Divi gives you access to the entire Divi Builder template library. You now get access to 350+ templates spread across 45+ layout packs.
With both Elementor and Divi you can save your designs to use later.
Divi vs Elementor: Content Lock-in
One major issue with using the Divi Theme and Divi Builder is that if you decide to switch to stock WordPress or some other theme (like maybe Elementor). Your content will still have Divi’s shortcodes, which is a huge mess and you’ll have to spend a lot of time during the migration.
So, if you decide to use Divi, it better be for life. While with Elementor you can always switch to another WordPress theme. This is reason enough to use Elementor, which is why I recommend it in my Divi alternatives article.
You rarely hear of online business professionals like me using Divi due to this reason,
Even Cyrus, the ex-head of SEO at Moz, considers Elementor his go-to Page Builder!
Divi vs Elementor: Speed
Sure page builders have gotten better over the years, and while some pages builders are better than others (cough…Elementor…cough). They still add bloat to your website vs running a simple WordPress Theme and Divi is really bad at this.
Most people won’t notice the difference of the site speed between Divi and Elementor, however, the thing with Divi is that you are locked in using Divi, while with Elementor you can use it with a super lightweight theme like GeneratePress or Astra.
Divi vs Elementor: Price
So, all things considered, why do people use Divi instead of Elementor?
Well, price! Divi is cheaper and if you are just planning on building a simple website/landing page for a cafe or a small business or a blog! Then Divi is definitely the choice for you.

Divi vs Elementor 2024: What should you pick?
They’re pros and cons to both, for example, my friend Mark uses Divi to freelance and build websites for cafes and hotels. On the other hand, my online marketing friends use Elementor to build their landing pages.
If you are a beginner I’d recommend going for Divi Elegant Themes.
Else if you run an online business the GeneratePress + Elementor Pro combination is better!
It makes more sense to understand your preferences and needs before the decision. After all, it doesn’t make sense to get a WordPress theme builder that isn’t compatible with your online business.
All the best!
